“Barnestorming” Explained

Many people see the name “Barnestorming” and think “brainstorming.” Although the association
makes sense, Barnestorming is not about brainstorming. Rather, it’s a nod to “Barnstorming,” a
phenomenon that swept the country in the early 20th Century, following World War I.

When the flying aces of World War I returned home, many began traveling
from town to town, performing daring feats of aerobatics.
Barnstorming shows included wing walking,
death drops, flying upside down, even dangling
by their teeth from a belly-mounted trapeze. The
more death-defying the maneuvers, the larger the
crowd and the bigger the gate. Even such notables
as the Wright Brothers and Charles Lindbergh
got into the act.

At Barnestorming our desire is to surprise and
delight our clients and their target audiences with
amazing feats of advertising acumen. After all, the
more compelling the advertising, the greater the
attention it commands and the larger the return.
